Wednesday 19 September 2012

Well, hello there. I’ve been away but now I’m back. Actually, since my last blog a lot has happened musically and so we’ll start there.

I’m very happy to confirm that the track listing/running order for my forthcoming album has been decided upon. The album will be called ‘Rise’ and will consist of thirteen tracks. The tracks are:

Blue Heat
Can’t Let Go
Under The Gun
Wake Up Call
Rise
Fool
Only For You
Little Luv Games
When She Dont Love You
Frozen
On The Hill
High
Awake

As you may notice, there’s a couple of tracks that have been released before but I promise you, these new versions of old tracks are much improved. Some of the tracks that did not make the final choice will no doubt appear as bonus tracks on any single releases. On that subject, I can also confirm that the first single release from the album will be track number two ‘Can’t Let Go’. There will be an accompanying promotional video for the single but more on that at a later date.

However, despite the album being finished and all the artwork complete, the album will not be seeing the light of day until 2013. I’m currently getting the funds together to have the album professionally mastered and manufactured. Once that’s been done, I need further cash to pay for some professional promotion and a notable launch gig, as well as a planned national tour. I’m also currently in the middle of a fitness regime and would like to shed a few pound (OK, stone) before I record the promotional video and do any photo shoots. I do not wish to be known as the Buster Bloodvessel of acoustic pop (no offence to the great man). So as you can see, as there is so much still to work on, it would be very premature, if not foolish, to plan a 2012 release. If something is going to be done, I want it to be done right.

If that’s not enough for you, here’s more… I have also recorded a brand new album under my side project ‘Silent Voice’. For those of you who don’t know, Silent Voice is my instrumental work, covering genres such as Ambient, Classical and Soundtrack. The ten track album will be called ‘The Golden Season’ and is due for release next month.
I’m confident in saying that it will be the best Silent Voice release to date.

AND THERE’S MORE… I have also written and recorded a couple of songs with my Sister under the Country genre. A single will be released under my Sister’s name ‘Karen Wing’ called ‘Don’t Turn Around’. As well as writing the tracks, I also played all instruments and performed backing vocal duties. Again, the single will be released next month on E-tone Records.

I also plan to release an ebook consisting of my entire catalogue of song lyrics, which I’m still putting together as you read this. It’s another item I’ll be manically promoting in the not too distant future AND I’m currently putting the finishing touches to a Best Of CD, which will be released later next year… so I have been busy.

Still with music, my musical acquaintance Steve McCormick will be releasing his new album ‘Goosebumps’ very soon. Having already received an advanced copy of the album, I can’t recommend it highly enough. Like Andy Jones and the Norton Rockets, whose album I talked about in an earlier blog, McCormick produces quality and highly infectious pop songs. So far the stand out song is the title track itself (which is already available as a single). Make sure you get your copy of the album when it’s released.

Straying from music, since my last blog I have once again failed my driving test. Another nervous, stupid and totally avoidable mistake cost me and I now sincerely hope I pass my next attempt. It’s becoming a very expensive quest but my gigging aspirations could really benefit from a car.

Finally, and again straying even further away from music, I’m also working on another ebook, this time related to the paranormal. The subject of ghosts has always been of great interest to me and I am compiling a collection of stories involving the personal experiences of various close friends and family members. Stories that would otherwise never see the light of day. I’m only in the early stages and I’m certainly no literary genius. I’ll probably refrain from using real names but I still need to get express permission for their accounts to be included. I will keep you informed as to how this venture progresses.

Once again, thank you for reading and for your support. Feel free to add your comments below.

Until next time, bye.

Carl.
